Thrakische und moesische Regionen in Weihund Grabinschriften stadtrömischer Soldaten (1.-3. Jh. n. Chr.)
Funerary and votive inscriptions from Rome are the main sources for the analysis of the multifaceted theme of soldiers’ origo. The aim of this paper is to examine the indication of the region among these monuments. For this purpose, the inscriptions from Rome have been compared with the other sources attesting the provenance (administrative documents, military diplomas and laterculi) as well as with the inscriptions outside Rome, which carry this kind of information, in order to find similar evidence. As the phenomenon seems to be a peculiarity of private votive inscriptions erected in Rome by soldiers from Thrace and Moesia during the 3rd century, its causes and meaning have been investigated.
